Newton (2018) -| Rajkumar Rao's Oscar Nominated Hindi Movie Analysis | Cine Review

                        NEWTON (2018)

When subtlety and sensibility amalgamated, Newton happened. Despite being a character that has it's own ideologies, Nutan Kumar a.k.a Newton was never preachy. He was this rare guy who'd act the way that feels right to him, but most importantly doesn't expect his peers to act so. As a matter of fact, he's never concerned about it.

Amit V Masurkar carefully crafted the script devoid of stereotypes, despite having many places to inject the 'social commentary' about a variety of issues like corrupt politicians, irregularities during elections, maoists, the plight of ignoring citizens residing in inaccessible areas of the country, etc. To ice the topping, Newton's character wasn't sketched in a Sheldon Cooper-ish way, although the scope to do so was pretty evident.

The moment when Anjali Patil's character wishes that a honest professional like Newton should be rewarded, he casually responds that the reward itself would be the biggest form of dishonesty. Even after facing the hardships, he'd continue to be himself; a common man of his own 'ideal and perfect' world. And I was like, that has to be the most perfect end to his on-screen tale.

This is a Must Watch
