Nerkonda Paarvai (2019)
Tamil Movie Review

I've refrained myself from watching remakes of films that are very personally close to my heart - thanks to those of Bangalore Days, Premam, etc. When Papanasam was announced, I was sceptical despite the fact that Jeethu himself was helming it. But that film gave me a new hope for remake films, with Jeethu and the dialogue writer doing a fine job in localising the film without marring the core content of Drishyam. And now we have another winner in the form of Nerkonda Paarvai, taking forward the baton from Papanasam.

H Vinoth is very clear and confident in everything he does with regards to this film is concerned and it's pretty evident. He's aware that this film's scale is much bigger than that of its original and the changes that it demands. And man, the amount of thought he's put for those changes! Awesome! This is one film that'd definitely make Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Ritesh Shah and Shoojit Sircar really happy. Vinod has already carved a niche for himself as one of the best dialogue writers we've got and this was just another cake walk for him.

In the way I see it with regards to the central issue talked about in the film, Ajith is to Nerkonda Paarvai what Rajinikanth was for Kabali. With their massive outreach among us - the audience, it's heartening that they have taken a visible detour from their regular scheme of things to try out things like this and to send out the message to a large number of people.

Shraddha is a big gift to us who'd definitely go on to become one of the most important actresses we've had. The rest of the cast were equally brilliant, thanks to the sensible choice of actors. And then there's Ajith who totally surprised me with his restrained performance. As a Yuvan fanboy, personally I felt that these are the kind of films he actually needs at this point of his career.

Nerkonda Paarvai was one of the very few Tamil films I was looking forward to seeing in 2019 and it has turned out to be really worth the wait.❣️
Give it a watch.
