Devs (2020). An eight-part mini series from Alex Garland, the maker of 'Ex Machina' and 'Annihilation'. A slow-burning and philosophical science fiction mystery thriller with a brilliant visual language. About a security engineer, in pursuit of unraveling the truth behind her boyfriend's mysterious death, getting entangled into the uncomfortable web of revelations related to a clandestine project in development, based on free will and determinism, which is experimented by the tech giant she's working for. If you fancy Garland's body of work, do watch it; for he's one of the original minds of this era when it comes to science fiction. It's not an entirely flawless piece of art, yet, I mostly found myself immersing at the sheer scale of Garland's imaginative storytelling alone, which can be interpreted as a cerebral commentary on the influence of a tech-controlled world on humanity.
